Without all doubt it was no merit, but only boundless mercy, that Christ came to us and merited and obtained for us remission of sins unto eternal salvation.  Moreover, this He did of inestimable love.  Faith took hold of Christ and held Him inclosed, as a ring holds a precious stone; whosoever shall be found having Christ inclosed within his heart, him God will account righteous on that last day.  Do you have any doubts?
